Bone Health Screening
Proactive Insight. Stronger Futures.
This is not just a bone density scan. It is early insight into your bone strength, quality and future risk.
At Ravenstone Wellness, our Bone Health Screening focuses on understanding your bone strength and fracture risk using advanced, radiation-free REMS EchoLight technology. A state of the art technology designed to give a clear and concise insight into the health and density of your bones.
This is not just a density scan. It provides a detailed picture of bone quality – helping you take action early and confidently. Taking notice of the health and condition of our bones gives us a great advantage in catching potential issues and problems early.

What Kind Of Person
Would Suit A Screening?
Bone health changes gradually and often silently. This screening is ideal for:
- • Those concerned about Osteoporosis or Osteopenia
- • Women experiencing perimenopause or menopause
- • Individuals with hormonal change.
- • Anyone with a family history of bone loss or fractures
- • People who have experienced previous fractures.
- • Those with long-term inflammatory or metabolic conditions
- • Individuals on medications known to affect bone health
- • Active individuals and athletes wanting reassurance
- • Anyone who prefers a proactive approach rather than waiting for symptoms
Bone loss often has no symptoms until a fracture occurs. Early insight allows for early action.

Why Monitor Bone Health?
Bone is living, dynamic tissue that responds to what happens inside and outside your body. It is influenced by nutrition, hormonal changes, strength training, sleep, stress and inflammation. These factors shift throughout life. Often without obvious symptoms. That is why bone health can change gradually without being noticed.
Monitoring your bone health allows you to see how your body is responding before problems arise. It helps identify early changes before they become significant and gives you the clarity to take action with confidence. This is about proactive health management. Protecting long-term strength, independence and mobility. Rather than waiting for a fracture or diagnosis

FAQs
1. Do I need a GP referral for a bone health scan?
No. You do not need a GP referral for a Ravenstone Wellness bone health assessment. You can book directly.
If you have been advised to have a bone density scan, REMS scan or bone health scan by your GP, consultant or another clinician, you are welcome to bring any relevant information with you.
2. How long does a bone health scan appointment take?
The scan itself typically takes around 20-30 minutes.
Most Ravenstone Wellness appointments are booked as a longer Early Insight Assessment, allowing time for clinical discussion, explanation of your results and personalised guidance around your wider bone health and risk factors.
Please allow 60 minutes for your full appointment experience.
3. Is the REMS bone scan radiation free?
Yes. The REMS scan uses advanced ultrasound technology rather than X rays.
There is no ionising radiation involved, making it suitable for repeat monitoring and ongoing bone health assessment where appropriate.
4. Is this the same as a DEXA scan?Toggle Title
No. A REMS scan is an advanced ultrasound based bone health assessment.
It provides information relating to bone density, bone quality and fracture risk, rather than looking at density alone. It can complement traditional pathways and may help support earlier, more informed decisions about bone health.
5. Can the scan show osteoporosis or osteopenia risk?
Yes. Your results can indicate whether your bone health falls within normal, osteopenic or osteoporotic ranges.
The assessment also provides additional information relating to bone quality and fracture risk, helping to build a clearer overall picture of your bone health.
6. When will I receive my bone scan results?
Your results are typically available within 48 hours.
You will receive access via a secure digital platform, allowing you to review your report and monitor changes over time where appropriate.
7. Where is the bone health scan carried out?
Appointments are available in Horwich and Chorley, with additional clinic and partner locations available at selected times across the UK.
Please contact us for current clinic locations and availability.
8. What should I wear to my appointment?
Comfortable clothing is recommended.
Access to the lower back and hip area is required for the scan, so two piece outfits are ideal.
9. What happens after the scan?
Your scan is not simply a number or report.
Following your assessment, we discuss your results in the context of your wider bone health, lifestyle, recovery, hormones, movement and potential risk factors where appropriate.
The aim is to provide clearer early insight and help guide informed next steps, rather than simply delivering a score alone.
